Scrimshaw Necklace Pendant: Moose

I made this for my mom for Christmas, she's a big fan of mooses. I deliberately chose to depict a moose without the huge antlers because I couldn't figure out how to fit one of the big dudes on these vertically oriented pendants!

Scrimshaw on pre-ban elephant ivory cabochon. Mount, bail, and chain are sterling silver.

That is incredible. Do your eyes hurt yet? We are loaded with moose in eastern Idaho. In fact one thought I was his mate and came 10 feet from me while I was duck hunting this past fall. I just never seem to have the camera at the oportune moments though. Keep up the skrimshaw work, you have a gift.

Good thing he didn't get any closer, that could have been awkward. ;-)

Nope, no eyeball pain, only back pain from sitting at the microscope. At first it's hard to look through there for any length of time but it didn't take long to get used to it, and it feels just like drawing. I am so looking forward to the day when I can afford to get my own scope though and have a better setup that doesn't screw up my back!
