what would I have done in public?

I'm not exactly crazy about bugs. There are exceptions to this rule, but for the most part they kinda give me the creeps. Some people hate snakes, some people hate mice... for me, it's bugs.

I'd been out to feed the critters this morning, came in, had breakfast, and was sitting here at the computer when I felt a little tickle on my leg, a few inches above my knee. I froze, put my hand on my leg, and felt a tiny lump under my jeans. EEEEEK! In a fraction of a second I was on my feet, pants off, wildly flapping around to dislodge this evil beast that had crawled up the inside of my jeans. I mean, I didn't even think about it, I just reacted! And it was one of those harmless little beetles, but cripes I can't even imagine what I would have done if that happened in a public place! That reaction was just so... immediate!

Yeah...

And just when you thought it was getting dull around here... ;-)

Been there done that! Not in public, PTL!

Try having several hundred seed ticks in your jeans, and boots.. A friend of mine was trying to talk to me when I got into the house from being in the woods.. I was literally jumping up and down...

Ticks are already starting to pop up here! :O

If your legs are as furry as mine, the beetle was probably finding
a warm, fuzzy place :P

Ha ha Emily, I think I would croak if there were several hundred bugs on me! That was my concern actually, was that it could be a tick, though I guess it's been a few months since I've seen one.

Hey, this is California, it's practically been warm lately (except all the rain today!)... no furry legs around here... ;-)

Holey Moley,

A few hundred and I would have passed out cold I think. I can rescue injured snakes but, let a cockroach come in the house and I surrender.

I can totally see myself stripping down raw in public.

ROFL at your description.

Thanks for the morning jolt.

I do believe that I would have reacted in exactly the same way.

I love your blog and am adding a link to it on my own...

Remember the mouse in the barn, and running into the milkhouse to remove the pants?

Distinctly!

Ah, for anyone who doesn't know that story, I was probably about 8 when that happened. Peachy the cat caught a mouse in the barn. I was nearby. The mouse decided that going up the leg of my pants would be a great place to hide from the cat.

Man, I miss that old milkhouse, that was a cool building!
