This morning was the "grand finale" ride out at JJ's. Shylah is coming home tomorrow. It was a long ride and a good time! I'm pleased with how Shylah has done in her time there out on the trails, she's a good horse. :-)
(so obviously the short horse should have been photographed closest to the camera...lol). On the left is me and Shylah. Middle is Neva and Dusty. Right is Wendy and Blue Top. (I know, sometimes I use initials and sometimes I don't, there's really no rhyme or reason to it).
So, onward with the rest of the day.. I had a few hours to get some stuff done around here and then it was off for a wedding reception for a friend I have known since high school (junior high?) I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had to rush outta there shortly after dinner for the Chicken Art Show....
...which was very nicely presented. I didn't know anyone and nobody I knew came to visit. I didn't realize it was going to be judged. Best in Show! Woo hoo yeah! That was with the Light Brown Leghorn drawing. Second place with the Silver Phoenix lithograph. So I made enough $ to cover the entry fees with a couple bucks leftover. I forgot to bring a camera. I also forgot to bring the wedding gift. I would forget my head if it wasn't attached.
Well done, best in show is a great achievement! I'm glad to see some of your printmaking getting recognition too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the BOS! I'd also like to congratulate you on your horse training. Not only is Shylah doing great, but the lady on Dusty (another horse you worked on) is 70 years old, and she enjoyed her ride on him. Chicken breeder, great artist, horse trainer, what an assortment of accomplishments! JJ
ReplyDeleteThanks Emma! It's funny, the litho got second in the "mixed media" category. Lol, I'll take it. I usually have to enter them in "mixed media or anything goes."
ReplyDeleteJJ, Dusty is still such a fruitloop sometimes I hate to take credit for him. ;-) I think he just needs to be ridden more than every few months. If I was any kind of good horse person I'd keep coming over there almost every day and now take Dusty out on the trails and REALLY make him work in the plowed fields. I really should do that... even just a couple times a month would really help him to settle down I think. I think it would be great to take him to JC's in late Sept, the hills would be good for him. But you'd need your truck back I guess! Thanks again for letting Shylah hang out for a few weeks, I think that was really good for her (plus I had loads of fun). :-)
Congratulations! Maybe they wanted to ambush you with a contest! Best of show art, Best in Show poultry, gee whiz girl! Good work! I agree on the brown leghorn, such a nice piece of artwork!
