Well, this being Thursday I of course spent much of the day in the litho studio. I finished drawing the image on the stone, and did the first etch. Next time I'll ink it up, and etch it again, and see how it looks, and some time after that I'll be printing it. Cross your fingers, it's a delicate process and it's been a while....
So, here it is. The figure is drawn with litho crayons, the background is solid ink (I first masked off the horse and rider with gum arabic, and then inked over that, I know this doesn't make a lick of sense if you haven't seen lithography). The background will actually be solid black. It looks gray here because I put a lot of talc into it to dry it out so that I could work on the drawing. But, here you can see the whole stone and everything. Remember, this type of printingmaking makes MULTIPLE ORIGINALS, it is NOT a print of something else. I drew that on the stone. Next Thursday that "original drawing" will be gone, washed out and replaced with ink, and later in the process the ink is offset onto paper. Nifty huh? This is real true honest to goodness limited edition printmaking. There probably won't be more than 20 or so images printed from this stone.

ReplyDeleteThank you!!! I can't wait to be done with it! Which is not to say that I'm tired of working on it, I am just excited to see how it turns out and what sort of response it gets! :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry about the movie. Being sick is soo not cool. I am glad to see what you have been working on though. You are such a good artist!
ReplyDeleteHey, don't even worry about it, I wouldn't have wanted your germs anyhow. We'll go some other times when things are less hectic.
