Thanks for the comment, either way! :-) I have different setup coming in the mail this week. Not sure if you're an engraver also, but if you read the forums I'm buying that sweet little setup that Rod posted over the weekend, for a fraction of the cost of these other grinders and power hones!

Oh, and my neighbor is going to take a look at the existing grinder this afternoon. Could be that the bushing is a bit loose in the diamond wheel. Regardless, I think I'm pretty much sold on the small setup that will get here later this week.

It seems to me, a likely source of your wheel vibration could be from the hole in the wheel not matching the shaft on the grinder. I was looking for a horizontal grinder, like a faceting lap. Makita has one for $300.
